Welcome to the Rainland Fly Casters web site. The Rainland Fly Casters (RFC) is an active member club of the Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF), and active in the Federation of Fly Fishers, Oregon Council. We are also affiliated with Oregon Trout and Pacific Rivers Council.
The RFC are also involved in conservation activities. We work in cooperation with ODF&W on Steelhead count and Steelhead redd count surveys on several of the local rivers and streams. We also do tree planting and fish habitat enhancement, along with local Salmon and Steelhead fry rescues with in the County.
Clatsop County has fishing for just about everyone. You can fish in the many rivers, lakes and streams within our area. There is even Jetty and Surf fishing for those who like something a little different.
We would like to invite you to attend one of our meetings, if your in the area. Club meetings consist of special programs on fly tying, fly fishing and conservation. We also have a "Tie With the Master" program. Anyone who would like to tie along with the master tier, brings their own tools and follows their instructions on tying the different flies. The Club provides the needed materials for that evening's flies. Regular club meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month in the American Legion's basement, 1132 Exchange St. in Astoria, at 7:00 PM. You are also welcome to have dinner with us before the meeting at 5:30 PM at Andrew & Steves Restaurant.
****The Rainland Fly Casters' 20th Anniversary Fly Tying book is finally out. If you would like to purchase one you can from any club member. If your thinking of fishing in this area it is great for suggesting places and what flies to use, as well as a brief history of the Rainland Fly Casters. Click here for more information.
