In March 2004 the North Coast Land Conservancy Executive Director Neal Maine and Vice President Doug Ray (also member of RFC) came and presented the RFC members with a proposal to help raise money for the Circle Creek project located in south Seaside just west of Circle Creek Campground. The RFC members donated $3,000.00 to the NCLC in their effort to raise $1.2 million for the acquisition of the property. If you would like a little more back ground on the Circle Creek Project Neal sent me this article giving a brief back ground of the project and an overview of the habitat & wild life on it. He also sent a couple of pictures, Elk 1 and Elk 2. I also put together a map roughly showing (in orange) the area of the Circle Creek Project. Here are a couple news paper articles from the Daily Astorian that will also give you a little more information on the project and how your club can donate money if they care to. If your club would like to donate some of their time in helping with the work on this project you can e-mail me and I will let Neal & Doug know. Article 1Article 2 (The articles are in *.pdf format.)

"I have been, all my life what is known as a Conservationist. I am not at all sure that this has done myself or anyone else any good, but I am quite sure that no intelligent person, least of all a countryman, has any other alternative. It seems clear beyound possibility of arguement that any given generation of people can onlyhave a lease, not ownership, of the earth; and one essential term of the lease is that the earth be handed on to the next generation with unimpaired potentialities. This is a Conservationist's concern."
