Members & Friends Picture Page

What I would like to do first in the members picture section is remember 2 club members, Tony Robnett and Walt Quint even though I don't have any pictures of them at this time. I would like to acknowlege them with an article given to me by each of them.
The first artical is by Tony Robnett which he wrote about fish going insane. Tony wrote this asrticle for the club news letter many years ago and when I was the news letter editor he gave me a copy to publish in the news letter once again for those of us new members that had mised it the fist time around. Well now Tony is gone so I am putting it here on our web site in memory of him. I hope you enjoy Tony's  article entitled "When Fish Go Mad".
The second article is from Walt Quint. He enjoyed Steelhead fishing and I think his favoright Steelhead pattern was the Squamish Poacher. It was a news paper article that he had cut out of a news paper after fishing with the fly. Walt couldn't remember the name of the news paper or the date of the it that he had cut it out. The article tells about the history of the Squamish Poacher, and about the originator of the fly Joe Kambeitz. This was one of the flies that Walt said we had to put in our fly pattern book, so needless to say it can be found in the Rainland Fly Casters book on page 24, tied by Hery Hoffman. I hope you enjoy this article as it gives you a little back ground of the Squamish Poacher and the man who made it possible. The article is entitled "On The Squamish River".

Here are some pictures of club activities, outtings, get togethers and just plain old fun with members and friends,  Some of the pictures are old and some are new, some are serious and some just plain fun. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
If you haven't gone jetty fishing before Chuck is the one to see. I went with him and it's an experience in fly fishing you will always remember. Here is a Stripper Bass that he caught with his  Chuck's Striper Special.
Two years ago Chuck took Andrew Mac Lean and Henry Brause of the North Coast Jr. Fly Casters to Bear River fishing for Chum Salmon. They all had a blast. Here is a picture of Chuck, Andrew & Henry. Here's a few picture's of Andrew & Henry fishing. Picture 1, picture 2, picture 3, and picture 4. Here is a picture of Andrew with one of his many fish. Here is one of Henry with one of his many fish.
Here is an old ad from the Fly Fisherman when Henry Hoffman was breeding his chickens. Here's the ad picture of Henry and one of his roosters
Here are some pictures of a good friend of mine John Lindsey. I met him at one of the Federation of Fly Fishers, Oregon Council sponsored Fly Tying Expo's in Eugene, OR. He was a featured tier who ties bass poppers, bugs and flies. He and "Rosie" are the current IGFA, International Game Fish Association, 6 lb tippet World Record holder and the biggest large mouth bass caught on a fly rod with ANY size tippet. John caught 14 pound 2 oz "Rosie" on October 20,2000 near lake Meredith in the Texas Panhandle using a white chug bug that he named the "Rosie Getter" which he originated and sold commercially in 1955. After catching "Rosie" he donated her alive to the Texas Budwieser-funded Share Lunker Bass program. Of over 350  13 pound plus bass donated to the program, so far "Rosie" is the only one caught on a fly rod. The odds of cathching a 13 pound plus bass on a fly rod on any given day in Texas exceed 1.2 trillion to 1. Records currently held are: *IGFA Fly Rod Bass World Record - 6 lb tippet, *Texas State Bass Fly Rod Record - 6lb tippet, *Texas Canadian River, Water Body Record. These bugs are not sold commercially and there is nothing like them avaiable on the market. They are only available to the public via the FFF and other fly fishing organizations. I happen to get my "Rosie Getter" and other flies at the Fly Tying Expo in Eugene, and at the Fly Fishing the Northwest Show in Seaside, OR.
